Hog roast venue and access planning

Agree the venue arrangements alongside the food. Fables’ hog roast menu includes roasting and fresh preparation on site, followed by buffet service. Send the proposed location and access details early so the setup can be discussed before you fix the event layout.

Describe the route to the catering area

Give Fables the venue address and explain how the proposed cooking and serving areas are reached. Include any access restrictions the venue has identified, such as controlled arrival times or a route that needs separate permission. Ask Fables what further information is needed to assess the proposal.

Confirm access and setup arrangements with Fables and the venue before booking. Agree the space and access requirements for your particular venue with Fables so the catering layout is based on the proposed site.

Discuss electricity and weather arrangements

Electricity is required. Tell Fables what the venue can provide and ask for the necessary arrangements to be confirmed. If Fables needs to arrange its own power, this must be agreed in advance at an additional charge. Check the proposal with the venue before treating a supply as settled.

The menu includes gazebos for roasting and serving when required. Discuss their proposed position and the weather arrangements with Fables. Confirm the setup within your event plan so any relevant venue restrictions can be considered.

Place the buffet within the guest layout

Chefs carve the meat while staff help serve the accompanying dishes. Consider the route guests will use to reach and leave the serving table, and discuss how it fits with seating and other activity at the venue. Ask Fables to review the proposed arrangement rather than finalising it from a menu description alone.

A serving table with linen and disposable plates, cutlery and napkins are listed in the hog roast menu. China crockery is available at an extra cost. State your tableware preference in the enquiry and confirm the agreed inclusions in your quote.

Agree who clears each part of the site

After service, we clear our own equipment and food preparation area. Guest waste, bins and venue cleaning remain the client’s or venue’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed with Fables.

Discuss that division with the venue and anyone coordinating the event. Include any requested change in your enquiry so Fables can confirm whether it forms part of the arrangements.

Dietary requirements

Fables caters for agreed food intolerances only. We do not cater for food allergies.

Please discuss any food intolerance with us before booking so we can confirm whether we can accommodate it. A request is included only once Fables has expressly confirmed the arrangements; entering it on a form does not confirm acceptance.

Our kitchens and mobile catering units handle allergens, and cross-contact can occur. We provide ingredient and allergen information, but do not guarantee allergen-free food. Vegan options are not necessarily suitable for someone with a food allergy.

Coeliac disease requires separate consideration and must not be treated as an ordinary intolerance request. Do not assume our food is suitable.

Confirm the agreed intolerance requirements and portion numbers on your final booking form, and tell us promptly about any changes. Please do not include guests’ names or medical histories.

What should we send before confirming the layout?

Include the event date, venue, expected guest numbers, preferred serving time, proposed catering areas, access information and electricity details. List any questions that still need agreement between Fables and the venue. The catering quote checklist helps organise the enquiry.

Read how Fables works and the hog roast catering overview, then request a quote. Your quotation confirms the service, inclusions and arrangements agreed for your event.
