Decide where the food fits

Explain whether canapés are planned for guest arrival, a drinks reception or another part of the celebration. If you also intend to serve a main meal, cake or other food, include its timing in the same enquiry.

Give the number expected to eat during this service and say if people arrive at different times. The guest numbers and portions guide helps you distinguish the food requirement from the total number invited.

Make one shortlist of three items

The current menu allows any three items to be mixed from the Asian, Middle Eastern and British lists. Read the full descriptions and include the three choices you would like Fables to confirm.

Consider the complete item, including its sauce, dip or accompaniment. If you have a question about an ingredient or agreed intolerance request, raise it before booking rather than relying on an item name alone.

Choose a serving approach to discuss

The menu describes staff serving from small rustic boards and a buffet arrangement on rustic wooden tables. Tell us which you would like to discuss and how guests will be using the party space.

Ask for the proposed food quantity, serving period, staffing and equipment to be clear in the quote. The catering service styles guide can help you compare the arrangements without assuming every service includes the same support.

Check the home or hired venue

Give the venue postcode, supplier access details and the proposed food area. If the event is at a hired venue, identify who can confirm catering arrangements and any restrictions. For a home celebration, explain the access and space you expect the team to use.

List the serving help, tableware, equipment or clearing support you want discussed. Use the catering quote checklist and ask for the agreed inclusions and responsibilities to be recorded in your quotation.

Dietary requirements

Fables caters for agreed food intolerances only. We do not cater for food allergies.

Please discuss any food intolerance with us before booking so we can confirm whether we can accommodate it. A request is included only once Fables has expressly confirmed the arrangements; entering it on a form does not confirm acceptance.

Our kitchens and mobile catering units handle allergens, and cross-contact can occur. We provide ingredient and allergen information, but do not guarantee allergen-free food. Vegan options are not necessarily suitable for someone with a food allergy.

Coeliac disease requires separate consideration and must not be treated as an ordinary intolerance request. Do not assume our food is suitable.

Confirm the agreed intolerance requirements and portion numbers on your final booking form, and tell us promptly about any changes. Please do not include guests’ names or medical histories.
