Wedding Buffet Catering

A buffet can suit an informal wedding breakfast, an evening reception or a celebration after your ceremony. Fables provides buffet catering for weddings across the UK. Begin with where food fits into your day, then agree the menu, guest numbers and service arrangements for that part of the celebration.

Decide when the buffet will be served

Tell us whether the buffet is your main wedding meal or food later in the evening. Include the intended serving time and any parts of the day that affect it, such as speeches or a room change. Your venue may have its own access and setup restrictions, so check those before treating a timetable as final.

Keep arrival, setup and serving times distinct in your enquiry. This gives everyone a clearer brief when the catering arrangements are confirmed.

Match the menu to your guest list

Fables offers hot and cold buffet options, including sandwich platters, grazing platters and hot buffets, with bespoke menus discussed around your preferences. Browse the Fables menus to start the conversation, then explain the type of meal you want and the budget available.

For an evening reception, distinguish guests who attended earlier from any additional evening guests. Give the number you want the buffet to serve rather than relying on your ceremony count. Our guest numbers and portions guide can help you prepare that brief.

Confirm what happens at the venue

Delivery or full service must be agreed for your wedding. Ask for delivery, setup, serving, clearing and equipment to be explicitly listed in the quotation. Discuss available tables, the buffet location, loading access and any restrictions from the venue or other suppliers.

For staffed catering, service ends when the agreed quantity has been served or the service period ends, whichever comes first. Guest waste, bins and venue cleaning are the client’s or venue’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed with Fables. Agree these responsibilities with the venue before the day.

Food intolerances and allergies

Fables caters for agreed food intolerances only. We do not cater for food allergies.

Please discuss any food intolerance with us before booking so we can confirm whether we can accommodate it. A request is included only once Fables has expressly confirmed the arrangements; entering it on a form does not confirm acceptance.

Our kitchens and mobile catering units handle allergens, and cross-contact can occur. We provide ingredient and allergen information, but do not guarantee allergen-free food. Vegan options are not necessarily suitable for someone with a food allergy.

Coeliac disease requires separate consideration and must not be treated as an ordinary intolerance request. Do not assume our food is suitable.

Confirm the agreed intolerance requirements and portion numbers on your final booking form, and tell us promptly about any changes. Please do not include guests’ names or medical histories.

Read our catering FAQs before booking.

Wedding buffet questions

Can the buffet be our evening food?

Yes, evening receptions are among the occasions we cater for. Tell us the evening guest count, intended serving time and what food guests will already have had, so the quotation reflects the meal you are planning.

What if the venue changes the room layout?

Tell us promptly and check whether the new layout affects access, tables, setup or service. Update the agreed arrangements rather than assuming the original plan will transfer unchanged.
