Planning carpeted entrances and guest walkways
A carpeted entrance or walkway is part of a route between activities. Its purpose is easier to understand when the plan shows where guests come from, where they are going and how the surface changes along the way. Gather those details with the venue, then discuss the appropriate carpet and fitting arrangement with Fables.
Follow the whole guest journey
Mark the arrival point, route and destination on the venue plan. Identify whether the same walkway serves the ceremony, marquee, toilets or another event area at different times. Explain which sections you want carpeted and why. Keep the route continuous on the working sketch even where some sections remain uncovered, so the supplier can see the relationship between carpet, paths and other surfaces.
Show doors, turns and route changes
Measure the proposed area and identify corners, narrowing sections and doors that open across or beside it. Mark the start and finish of carpeted sections rather than presenting a single length without context. Ask the venue to review how the route functions for its event access arrangements. Share any changes before final fitting decisions are made, particularly if the entrance location is still being discussed.
Explain the joins between surfaces
Photograph the places where carpet would meet a doorway, threshold, path, existing floor or open ground. Note changes of level and describe the underlying surface along each part of the route. Ask Fables how the suitable carpet and fitting arrangement should be confirmed. Do not assume that a simple change in colour on the drawing explains an actual physical transition that needs its own discussion.
Include the people using the route
Tell the venue about practical access requirements relevant to the event and discuss the actual guest route with it. Explain whether suppliers also use the walkway before or during the celebration. Mark an alternative route only if it has been discussed with the responsible people. Carpet availability alone should not be used to promise suitability for a particular person or mobility aid without reviewing the actual arrangement.
Coordinate the entrance with styling and furniture
Show welcome signs, decorations, seating or other features near the route. Ask their providers how they are installed and when they need access. Keep the agreed walkway arrangement visible when the styling plan develops, so additional objects do not quietly change the usable route. If the entrance is part of a marquee layout, review both plans together rather than arranging the carpet from a separate entrance sketch.
Agree installation, use and removal access
Confirm when the route can be available for fitting and whether guests or suppliers need another agreed way through during that work. Ask who to contact if conditions change while the event is underway. Plan removal with the venue and other suppliers, including furniture or decorations that must be cleared first. Give Fables the relevant timings and access contact as part of the quotation brief.
Details to gather before enquiring
Prepare the following for the discussion: Arrival point and destination on one plan; Measured shape with doors and turns; Surface transitions photographed; Guest and supplier use discussed; Installation and removal access agreed.
Questions to settle before booking
Can the carpet stop before the final doorway?
Show the intended stopping point and photograph the surface between it and the doorway. Ask Fables and the venue to discuss the practical transition and route. The appropriate layout should be agreed from the actual setting rather than chosen only to match a preferred visual length.
What if we change which marquee entrance guests use?
Send the revised structure and route plan to Fables and the venue. Review measurements, surface transitions and the installation arrangement, even if the proposed carpet area seems similar. Tell other suppliers whose furniture or decoration depends on the entrance position so the event uses one accepted route.
