BBQ food and event inspiration.
Choose the right starting information
For an initial enquiry, send the date, venue postcode, estimated guest numbers and preferred serving time. Explain the occasion, the role of the BBQ in the event and the menu you are considering. Tell us about any known access, cooking or utility restrictions.
You can ask questions while some details are provisional. Fables will check availability and discuss the arrangements before preparing a personalised quote. An enquiry by itself does not reserve the date or establish what is included.
Read the menu and the service terms together
The Fable menus and separate BBQ Street Food Menu use different selection rules and extras. Compare the complete food lists, check which price applies and confirm the agreed quantity and serving window. A photograph or a starting figure does not replace the written booking details.
The answers below preserve the current dietary, utility and food-limit information. Discuss a requirement before booking if the standard arrangement may not fit your venue or guests. Record any expressly accepted changes in writing.
Your BBQ catering questions.
What BBQ menus and starting prices do you offer?
The current published choices are Fable 1 from £22.95 per person, Fable 2 from £17.95 and Fable 3 from £14.95. Each lists three items per person, four salads, relishes, French sticks and butter. There is also a separate BBQ Street Food Menu, with a choice of four options and no published base price. Your personalised quote confirms the menu, service, quantities and extras.
How do the BBQ Street Food extras work?
The published street-food side options are crispy seasoned fries or mixed salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing, under a £3 per person extra heading. Its dessert selection is £3 per person extra for one choice: mini chocolate brownies, fresh fruit skewer, homemade cakes, donut wall or Pic N Mix. Confirm the selected extra and price in your quote; these are not automatic free Fable-menu inclusions.
Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
Fables caters for agreed food intolerances only. We do not cater for food allergies.
Please discuss any food intolerance with us before booking so we can confirm whether we can accommodate it. A request is included only once Fables has expressly confirmed the arrangements; entering it on a form does not confirm acceptance.
Our kitchens and mobile catering units handle allergens, and cross-contact can occur. We provide ingredient and allergen information, but do not guarantee allergen-free food. Vegan options are not necessarily suitable for someone with a food allergy.
Coeliac disease requires separate consideration and must not be treated as an ordinary intolerance request. Do not assume our food is suitable.
Confirm the agreed intolerance requirements and portion numbers on your final booking form, and tell us promptly about any changes. Please do not include guests’ names or medical histories.
How much food and service time is included?
Our portion sizes are based on a 10-inch plate. For larger events or when queues build, we may serve on smaller plates, with guests returning for further servings within the agreed portion allowance and service period. The serving plate size does not change the total food provision agreed for your booking.
Your booking provides the agreed quantity of food for up to the agreed service period. Service finishes when either the full booked quantity has been served or the booked service period ends, whichever happens first.
If the booked quantity is served before the finishing time, catering service is complete. If the service period ends first, Fables is not required to continue cooking or serving the remaining quantity.
Please ensure guests know the serving times and attend during that period. The booking does not include unlimited food, additional service time or automatic handover of unused ingredients.
Any additional food, extended service or takeaway arrangements must be expressly agreed with Fables and may involve an additional charge.
These limits do not remove Fables’ responsibility for failing to provide the agreed service with reasonable care and skill or limit your statutory rights.
What electricity and other utilities do we need?
Electricity is required for our services. Fables will confirm the supply requirements for your booked equipment, and the client must arrange a suitable supply at the agreed setup location and time.
If electricity is unavailable, Fables can provide its own power for an additional charge. Please arrange this with us in advance. The price will be quoted and agreed in writing before it is added to your booking.
Wi-Fi is required where your booking includes a photobooth, DJ equipment or a card machine for taking payments from guests for food. The client must arrange a working connection that is accessible at the equipment’s operating location and provide any necessary login details. Tell us in advance if Wi-Fi is unavailable so we can discuss whether suitable alternative arrangements are possible. Supplying our own power does not provide Wi-Fi.
Any clean-water or other utility requirements will be confirmed for your particular booking.
If an agreed supply is missing or unsuitable on arrival, this may delay or prevent the affected service. We will seek a practical solution and explain any additional costs. Delay charges will reflect reasonable additional costs actually caused, up to £50 per hour, calculated proportionately, without charging twice for the same cost. This does not remove Fables’ responsibility for its own equipment or planning failures.
When is the booking secured and when are final details due?
An enquiry does not reserve a date. Written acceptance by Fables and the agreed booking fee in cleared funds secure the booking. The standard deposit is 50% unless different written arrangements apply.
The final booking form is normally requested 28 days before the event. Both the completed form and cleared final balance are due 21 days before, unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing. Guest numbers cannot fall below the original confirmed amount. Request increases by the final-form deadline so Fables can confirm capacity and any additional price.
Is clearing and waste removal included?
Guest-table clearing, venue rubbish collection and waste removal are included only when expressly listed in your booking. Otherwise, the client or venue provides suitable bins and disposal arrangements. Ask about any waiting staff or wider clearing requirements when requesting the quote.
