What does open-air mean?
Open-air describes an unenclosed photo setup. The photo area sits within the room or event layout, so the background, nearby activity and way guests approach it become part of the planning. The exact equipment and arrangement are confirmed in your quotation.
The name describes the booth format; discuss any outdoor proposal separately with Fables. Tell the team about the location, shelter and event conditions so suitability can be considered for the particular equipment being booked.
Open-air or enclosed: how the experience differs
With an open-air setup, guests can see the photo activity from the room. That can make it easy for friends to join in and choose their next group. It also means that nearby movement, room decoration and the queue are visible parts of the event layout, so the position deserves as much attention as the equipment.
An enclosed booth creates a contained place to step into for the picture. An open format leaves the photo area unenclosed; it does not by itself promise a wider shot, a particular group capacity or outdoor suitability. Choose around the groups and atmosphere you want, then confirm the framing and full setup space.
- Use the proposed camera direction to decide whether the room itself or a separately agreed backdrop should form the background.
- Keep the waiting group beside the photo area rather than in the shot or across a main guest route.
- Think about the whole group you want in the frame, including seated participants, when discussing the camera position and approach.
- For a more visually separated photo moment, compare an enclosed booth; for a visible station in the room, compare open-air and selfie pod arrangements.
Think about the background and the group
Describe the look you want in the pictures and ask about any requested backdrop or styling. Confirm what is included in your chosen package instead of assuming the room decoration or a backdrop shown with another booth will be supplied.
Consider which groups you want to photograph and where people will wait, gather and move away. Fables will confirm the setup requirements. Share the venue layout and nearby guest routes so the photo area can be planned alongside dining, dancing and other activities.
Keep the photo experience clear
Ask about how guests take their pictures, what output the booking provides and how it reaches them. If prints, digital sharing, a host collection, particular props or assistance are important, include those details in the enquiry and confirm them in the quotation.
Choose the operating start and finish around the event’s main moments. Share the expected attendance, any later arrivals and room changeover. The venue should know when the agreed photo area must be available for delivery and setup.
Prepare your open-air booth enquiry
Send your date, postcode, preferred setup and operating times, with any background, group-photo or output requirements. Fables will confirm the equipment and package, including delivery and setup arrangements. The Magic Mirror’s published price, hours and paperless service apply to that separate offer.
The client must arrange suitable electricity at the agreed setup location and time, plus working Wi-Fi at the equipment’s operating location and any necessary login details. Raise access restrictions and unavailable supplies early. Own power can be quoted separately, but does not provide Wi-Fi.
Your photo booth questions.
Does open-air mean the booth can be used outdoors?

Is a backdrop included?
Describe the background or styling you want in the enquiry. Confirm the items and services included in the quotation for your chosen setup.
How much room should we allow?
Fables will confirm the particular setup and access requirements. Discuss the equipment, guest group and approach space with your venue.
