A good serving position is only one part of planning a pizza horsebox visit. The towing vehicle and catering unit also need a suitable route to reach it, room to manoeuvre and the agreed utilities. Bring the venue into this conversation early, while there is still time to agree a practical setup.

Walk the route from the entrance
Ask the venue to identify the entrance that delivery vehicles should use. Follow that route through to the proposed position and check the way out as well. Record anything that could restrict access, including gates, overhanging branches, height restrictions, parked vehicles, slopes and tight turns.
Send photographs or a simple plan with your enquiry. Fables confirms the access requirements for the allocated equipment, so use the actual route for that discussion rather than relying on the appearance of a horsebox in a photograph.
Discuss ground conditions and protection
Tell Fables about grass, soft ground or any areas that become wet after rain. The towing vehicles and horseboxes are heavy; driving, manoeuvring and standing can leave tyre marks, ruts or compressed areas, particularly in wet conditions.
If a lawn or another surface must be protected, raise this before booking. Agree a suitable access route or ground protection with Fables and the venue, and record who will provide it. The driver assesses conditions on arrival and may decline an unsafe route. Make sure the venue or landowner has also given permission for the planned access and position.
Confirm the serving position and access times
Mark the serving position, the guest route and the space needed for manoeuvring on the same plan. Check delivery, setup and collection windows with the venue. Give Fables any restrictions that could affect when the equipment can arrive or leave.
Fables allocates a suitable catering unit based on access, available space, guest numbers, staffing and operational requirements. The photographs show examples; a booking does not reserve a specific pictured horsebox.
Check electricity at the operating position
Electricity is required. Ask Fables to confirm the supply requirements for your allocated equipment, then arrange a suitable supply at the agreed position and setup time. Confirm any clean-water or other utility requirements for the particular booking too.
Our own power can be provided for an additional charge if arranged in advance and agreed in writing. It does not provide Wi-Fi. If guests will pay by card, tell us how a working Wi-Fi connection will be available where the card machine operates.
Your pizza catering questions.
Can we use a generic minimum access width?
Ask Fables for the requirements of the allocated equipment. Send the actual entrance, route, turning area and position so those details can be assessed together.
What should we send if we have not visited the venue yet?
Start with the venue postcode and contact the venue for an access plan and restrictions. Share photographs when available and flag any access details that still need confirmation.
Continue planning.
