Planning paperless wedding photos with a Magic Mirror

A Magic Mirror gives wedding guests another way to enjoy being in the pictures together. Fables' Magic Mirror service is paperless: guests can scan a QR code to receive and save their photo, and the host receives a full digital folder after the event. Here is how to plan around that process.

Start with what your booking actually provides

Keep the photo-sharing arrangements clear when comparing wedding photo booth hire. The current Fables Magic Mirror service uses QR-code access and a digital folder after the celebration. Think about how guests will use the QR code and how you would like to share the host’s folder afterwards.

If you are also planning a guestbook or another wedding keepsake, include it in the wider reception brief. Settle any particular requirements with the people arranging those details so they work alongside your photo booth booking.

Put the mirror into the evening's rhythm

Choose a period when your guests have time to take part. Fables offers 2, 3 or 4 hours of hire, with unlimited visits during the allocated time. Look at the wedding breakfast, speeches, cake cutting, first dance and evening arrivals together before selecting a start time.

Consider the guests you most want to include. A later opening could miss relatives who leave early; an earlier window could finish before evening guests arrive. Share those priorities with Fables, along with your venue postcode and proposed schedule. Confirm how delivery and setup fit within your selected time frame, rather than assuming extra operating time.

Make the photo area easy to find and reach

Choose a place where guests can see the activity without it interrupting the rest of the reception. The Magic Mirror package includes a red carpet and red velvet rope barriers, so discuss the complete setup with the venue. The proposed area needs to allow people to approach, pose and move away comfortably.

Ask the venue about doors, guest routes, dining service and any room changeover. Bring up steps, narrow access or restrictions on where equipment can be placed. Fables must confirm the particular setup requirements; avoid using an estimated footprint from another supplier or assuming a small corner will be suitable.

Check the Wi-Fi where the mirror will operate

A paperless plan needs a practical conversation about the venue's connection. Wi-Fi is required for a photobooth booking, and the client must arrange a working connection accessible at the equipment's operating location, including any necessary login details. A venue saying that it has Wi-Fi is the start of the check.

Ask about reception at the proposed photo area and how access is provided. If Wi-Fi is unavailable, tell Fables in advance so the team can discuss whether suitable alternatives are possible. Electricity is a separate requirement. Fables can quote its own power where needed, but supplying power does not provide internet access.

Plan a simple experience for guests

Think about how people will understand the QR-code step. Some guests will be comfortable scanning and saving a photo; others may need help. Raise that when planning the booking and discuss the practical arrangements with Fables in advance.

The prop box includes items such as hats, wigs, glasses, inflatables and signs. Guests can revisit the mirror during the booked time, so different family groups and friends can take part without needing a complicated shot list. Keep any important group-photo intentions realistic and share them with the person coordinating your reception.

Decide what happens after the wedding

The host receives a full digital folder after the event. Before booking, ask how delivery will be arranged and raise any timing needs you have. Confirm the details you need for receiving, downloading and sharing your photographs with the team.

When the folder arrives, download and organise the images you want to keep. Decide how you would like to share them with guests, and check that people pictured are comfortable with anything you plan to post publicly. For a personal thank-you, a link or a carefully chosen image can be a useful starting point, depending on your own sharing arrangements.
